DEPARTMENT OF GEOLOGY

The Department of Geology, one of the important departments in the college, started functioning with the inception of the college in 2017. It is one of the leading geology departments under the University of Kerala with excellent teaching and learning environment, well-equipped contemporary laboratories, a well-organized geological museum having a large collection of common and rare geological specimens, and a well-stocked library. The Department of Geology is privileged to be equipped with a highly knowledgeable faculty. All the members of the Department fulfill all requisite qualifications prescribed for higher education pedagogy in Geology. All faculty members have excellent meritorious academic records. The department has been active in scientific deliberations and interactions by hosting geological surveys and field trips. The Geology lab is equipped with about 250 minerals and 75 rock samples and is being updated regularly. It has a state-of-the-art laboratory with all fundamental facilities with a modern petrological microscope for various petrological studies. Department of Geology conducts field trips and study tours each year for the final year students, in collaboration with the Geological Survey of India. This provides a unique learning opportunity for students to experience geologic concepts in a real-world context.  The department offers “Disaster Management” as its open course for the students of other departments.
